  1. On your keyboard, press Windows+R to open the run command.
  2. Type in control and click OK to open the Control Panel.
  3. Set the “view by” to Small Icons and select Windows Firewall.
  4. Select Advanced Settings and click Inbound.
  5. Click New Rule.
  6. Select Port
  7. click Next.
  8. Enter the port numbers
  9. click Next (See Point of Sale Firewall Ports section).
  10. Select Allow Connection and click Next.
  11. Name your firewall rule (e.g. POS) and click Finish

Important points to note before Configuring QBPOS Firewalls manually

  • Contact the developer of your third-party security program for steps on how to add file and port exemptions.
  • You need to have Windows Administrator rights in order to perform the steps outlined in this post.
  • If you are using a third-party security program, make sure to add the Executable files and Firewall Ports that QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale required.
