Troubleshooting steps for Error code 176109

There are two solutions to resolve the error code 176109

  • Delete the contents of the Entitlement Client folder and Try Again
  • Uninstall and Reinstall Point of Sale

First of all, you need to follow steps discussed in solution 1 and if the issue still exists follow the steps discussed in solution 2 or you need to follow both the solutions.

Solution 1: Delete the contents of the Entitlement Client folder and Try Again

Windows 7 and Vista
  1. Right-click the Windows Start button and select Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Click Organize and select Folder and Search Options.
  3. Click the View tab, select Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.
  4. Navigate in the left window to C:\Program Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8
  5. Press the CTRL + A keys to select all the files in the folder and then press Delete.
  6. Open Point of Sale again and complete the registration process again. If the error persists, try solution 2.
Windows 8
  1. Drag your mouse to the lower-left corner, right-click the Start button and then choose File Explorer.
  2. Click the View tab and check the Hidden items
  3. Navigate in the left window to C:\Program Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8.
  4. Press the CTRL + A keys to select all the files in the folder and then press Delete.
  5. Open Point of Sale again and complete the registration process again. If the error persists, try solution 2.
Windows 10
  1. Click on the Folder icon on the bottom of the desktop screen ( this is the  File Explorer).
  2. Click the View tab and check the Hidden items
  3. Navigate in the left window to C:\Program Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8.
  4. Press the CTRL + A keys to select all the files in the folder and then press Delete.
  5. Open Point of Sale again and complete the registration process again. If the error persists, try solution 2.
Windows XP
  1. Right-click the Windows Start button and select Explore.
  2. Select the Tools menu and select Folder Options.
  3. Click the View tab and check the Hide extensions for known file types
  4. Select Show hidden files and folders and clear Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).
  5. Click OK.
  6. Navigate in the left window to the location: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8. To navigate, click the plus sign (+) next to each folder listed.
  7. Right-click the first file in this folder and select Delete. Click Yes and repeat for each additional file in the v8
  8. Open Point of Sale again and complete the registration process again. If the error persists, try solution 2.

 Solution 2: Uninstall and Reinstall Point of Sale

  1. Uninstall Point of Sale.
  2. Reinstall Point of Sale from a CD or download.
  3. If the error recurs, run a repair installation on Point of Sale, verifying the Product Number and License Number. (If the product and/or license numbers are incorrect, enter the correct numbers during this process.)
  4. Open Point of Sale and register if prompted.
